CAN I RIDE MY HOVERBOARD IN THE RAIN?

The answer is “YES” and “NO” and here is why.

GENERAL INFO: 

Rather than making expensive waterproof models, most of vendors prefer protecting hoverboards from water splashes. IP54 rated self balancing scooters have a certified protection against splashing water. You can ride them through mild puddles and they can handle a couple of water splashes before malfunctioning.

Different hoverboard models have different waterproof capabilities. Even though many manufacturers label their hoveboards waterproof, some are better at making their products immune to water splashes than others are. 

Moreover, traction gets worse on wet surfaces, which means that your safety would be compromised.

KIND REMINDER: 

Remember that your hoverboard has a battery inside and other delicate components, so you want to make sure you try to keep it as dry as possible. Under heavy rain you may wanna walk instead. And definitely avoid puddles.
